If you’ve been to the Pearl lately, you’ll notice quite a bit of construction going on around The Stable, which will open early next year as a new music venue. Tucked away behind the music venue is a storefront with the windows blacked out with word “Built for this Country,” which seems vague enough until you notice the iconic King Ranch logo on the windows.

A QR code on the window takes you to the King Ranch Saddle Shop, which sales Western wear like boots, bags, coats, leather goods, and, yes, saddles. King Ranch filed for a construction permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation back in April for a 2,890-sqaure-foot space in The Lab building at Pearl at 303 Pearl Pkwy., Suite 115, San Antonio, TX 78215. The spot is near other stores like Feliz Modern.

The TDLR filing has a completion date set for November 18. The completion date doesn’t mean the store is opening this month. The film blocking out the windows just says “Coming Soon.” MySA reached out to the Pearl and King Ranch for comment.

More For You

What is King Ranch?

For the unaware, King Ranch is more that just a special edition pickup truck or Southern casserole. The King Ranch was founded in 1853 when Captain Richard King purchased land in South Texas. The ranch and King’s land now covers 825,000 acres in the Kingsville area, according to the website, which is not from from the Gulf Coast and Corpus Christi.

King Ranch still focuses on cattle ranching and farming citrus, cotton, grain, sugar cane, and turfgrass. But the brand has now grown beyond ranching, building its legacy around luxury retail goods, which we know see in the Saddle Shops. It’s identifiable by its “running W” brand that has become its logo.

How many King Ranch stores are in Texas?

There are only six King Ranch Saddle Shops in Texas, including Kingsville, College Station, Fort Worth, Frisco, Austin, and Houston. If this Pearl location is indeed a new Saddle Shop, it will be the seventh location and an exclusive for San Antonio.

The stores sell a wide collection of coats, belts, boots, hats, and clothing for men and women. It also sells other leather goods like wallets, bags, office furniture, and home decor, according to the website. King Ranch touts its apparel and products as luxury but its most expensive pair of boots is $899. That may not be as expensive as Lucchese, which is opening a second store in San Antonio. King Ranch does have its own Lucchese pair
