Costco Wholesale, the massive warehouse chain, is finally opening up it’s first Central Texas location later this year. Free food samples, discounted bulk food saving, and, of course, the famous $1.50 hot dog combo is almost here for Kyle residents.
Costco Wholesale in Kyle will be the first for the area and open in March, according to Costco’s website. Both San Antonio and Austin each have four Costco Wholesale stores and the closest one to Kyle is in south Austin at 4301 W. William Cannon Drive, Building A, Austin, TX 78749.
According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, the new Costco will be located at the northwest corner of Interstate 35 and Kohler’s Crossing. The new 160,533-square-foot warehouse was built for $15.1 million, according to the filing. The construction was set to begin last year on January 21, 2022 and had a construction completion date of October 7, 2022.
The scope of the work for the new Costco warehouse included the building shell, canopies, interior improvements, signage, a fire protection system, fire alarms, HVAC, energy management systems, plumbing, and electrical system, according to the filing.
Besides bulk buying inside of the store, members will be able to fill up their tanks at the gas station facility onsite. There will be 24 gas pump spots with a 19′ 9″ canopy that will match the main warehouse’s color scheme. The 11,655-square-foot fueling station will have a computerized controller that will run fueling payments, gas pumping, and monitoring systems, according to a TDLR filing.
