Alamo City cinemas are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1986 David Bowie ult classic with limited screenings.
SAN ANTONIO — Dance, magic dance! Labyrinth is celebrating its 40th anniversary at several movie theatres in San Antonio.
The 1986 cult classic movie is taking over Alamo Drafthouse, Flix Brewhouse, and several of the Regal, Cinemark and Santikos movie theatres across the Alamo City.
And while Labyrinth may only be shown at select theatres many of the seats are already gone. Alamo Drafthouse is showing the movie at its Stone Oak location, with limited seating available and the best chance to snag a seat looks like Sunday, January 10.
Regal will be showing the flick at its Alamo Quarry, Cielo Vista, Huebner Oaks, Northwoods and Live Oak location. Many of the seats are still up for grabs.
Guests can also watch the dark fantasy movie at Santikos Palladium or at Cinemark 16.
The whimsically weird film follows teenager Sarah, who wishes her baby brother Toby would disappear in frustration, unknowingly summoning Jareth the Goblin King to take him to his castle at the center of a vast, magical labyrinth. Realizing the gravity of her wish, Sarah must navigate the labyrinth’s twisting corridors, strange creatures, and magical challenges to rescue Toby before time runs out.
Along the way, she meets a group of eccentric companions, including Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus who help her face puzzles, goblins, and her own self-doubt. Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie take center stage as Sarah and Jareth, respectively.
The film blends fantasy, music, and coming-of-age themes, highlighting Sarah’s journey from angsty teen to a confident heroine, all set against Jim Henson’s iconic puppetry and Bowie’s unforgettable musical performances.
