First responders with the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department believe the blaze was ignited by lightning.
BANDERA COUNTY, Texas — Firefighters in Pipe Creek, which is northwest of San Antonio, are battling a blaze they believe was ignited by a lightning strike during Saturday’s storms.
The volunteer fire department is fighting the fire on a hillside located on a ranch off of Bear Spring Road.
“We’ve had personnel and equipment on scene of this large fire all night, which is located on a very large ranch on a very steep hillside, off Bear Springs Road,” said PCVFD. “The fire was started by lightning during the storms yesterday afternoon.”
Officials say there is no danger to people or property, but with temperatures expected to climb to almost 100 degrees, weather will play a big role in the fire.
They say they will be able to extinguish the fire, but think it will take a little time.
