The San Antonio Spurs are preparing for the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, potentially landing picks at Nos. 8 and 14.
SAN ANTONIO — The 2025 NBA Draft Lottery takes place Monday night, and according to their current odds, the San Antonio Spurs own a pair of first-round picks that will likely land at Nos. 8 and 14.
Ahead of tonight’s lottery, ESPN opined what the Spurs may do if they keep the two picks and who they’d select.
Most likely pick if they stay at No. 8: Kasparas Jakucionis, Illinois, point guard/shooting guard
Jakucionis enters the NBA with the caliber of offensive creativity, intangibles, and international background that have traditionally been attractive to the Spurs organization.
Most likely pick if they stay at No. 14: Will Riley, Illinois, shooting guard/small forward
Adding shooting both on the perimeter and in the frontcourt likely will be a priority for the franchise long-term, with the likes of Jakucionis, Knueppel, Riley and Carter Bryant (Arizona) all likely to get long looks with the 8th and 14th picks.
Of course, considering whether the team can explore many avenues, all this is conjecture. Will the team even keep the picks? Will they trade up or down in the NBA Draft?
Or, more interestingly, will the Spurs’ good luck strike again, and will we see the team’s logo presented in the top five slots?
DEVIN VASSELL IN THE GYM
The Spurs’ offseason is underway, and Devin Vassell is taking advantage of the time to hone his skills ahead of next season.
In an Instagram video, Vassell is spotted in the gym working on his free-throw shooting at the Overtime Elite gym in Georgia.
Considering the video shows Vassell working on his free throws, it is noteworthy that he recorded his second-worst percentage from the charity stripe at 79% last season, off 1.9 attempts. His worst was 78% in the 2022-23 season, and his best was 84% in the 2020-21 season.
The bottom line is that it’s great to see Vassell not wasting time and getting to work.
