Law enforcement searching for gunman who shot man in the head in northeast San Antonio

The victim was transported to SAMMC in critical condition.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at the scene of a shooting on the northeast side where one person was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies said they arrived at the location on the 5100 block of North Foster Road where they discovered the victim in a white sedan at Montabella Pointe Apartments. The vehicle appeared to have been shot at several times.

The male victim, believed to be in his early-to-mid-20s didn’t appear to be breathing. Officials say deputies administered CPR before he was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) in critical condition.

Meanwhile, law enforcement believed the shooter fled to the area of South Grimes and Martin Luther King Drive about eight miles away. There, San Antonio police officers found the car they believed the shooter fled the North Foster scene in.

“The possible suspect fled the vehicle into a residence on South Walters, a house,” an SAPD sergeant on the scene said, adding police detained several people who were inside. “One of the gentleman that left the location said there might be someone still in there.”

It’s anyone as of now if anyone already detained by police is the suspected shooter, and the sergeant said he wasn’t aware if any weapons had been found.

This is a developing story.
