Law office makes $250,000 donation to San Antonio Food Bank

The large donation from the Law Office of Thomas J. Henry will help provide more than 500,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables.

SAN ANTONIO — The holidays may look a little different this year for many families still recovering from the recent government shutdown, but one major donation is helping ease the burden for thousands of households across South Texas.

The San Antonio Food Bank is receiving a $250,000 donation from the Law Offices of Thomas J. Henry as part of a statewide effort to support communities facing food insecurity.

According to the Food Bank, the contribution will help supply more than 500,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables – the equivalent of 10 full 18-wheeler truckloads of food that will go directly to families in need.

With the nonprofit estimating that one dollar provides seven meals, this donation is expected to help feed around 20,000 families this holiday season.

Last year, the Thomas J. Henry Feast of Texas campaign provided more than 3.5 million meals statewide, continuing a long-running tradition of giving during one of the most critical times of year.

A formal check presentation is scheduled for Tuesday.
