LeBron James’ next team odds include the Spurs

According to oddsmakers, the Spurs are among the top teams James could take his talents to.

SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with 2024 NBA offseason prop futures, and with the regular season complete, many are projecting where free agent LeBron James may land next season.

Several major online sportsbooks are releasing which teams have the best odds for James’ services next season, and according to Bovada Sportsbook, the San Antonio Spurs are among the top 10 teams.

Bovada has the Spurs with the 10th-best odds of landing James next season at +2800.

The Lakers (-200), Cavaliers (+500), and 76ers (+800) are the favorites to retain James’ services next season.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently reported that James could test free agency rather than opt into his $51 million deal with the Lakers for the 2024-25 season. However, The Athletic reported that the Lakers want to retain James “badly.”

James could fill the Spurs’ need for a championship-tested, veteran presence on the roster. The 39-year-old is a multi-time All-Star and would be able to impart his NBA knowledge to the young Spurs team.

Not to mention, a pairing with Victor Wembanyama would be a boon for the team as far as increased TV coverage and ticket sales.

Despite his age, he still put up great numbers last season.

James averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds in the regular season. He followed that up by averaging 27.8 points, 8.8 assists, and 6.8 rebounds in the playoffs.

However, at what price would James want San Antonio to offer? Does he want to join a rebuilding franchise and play second to Wemby? These are open questions to discuss.
