BiblioTech aims to break the world record for most library card sign-ups this week in Bexar County.
SAN ANTONIO — If you live in Bexar County and you love to read, watch movies or listen to music, you could help break a world record!
As part of Library Card Sign-Up Month, BiblioTech, Bexar County’s all-digital public library, is attempting to break the world record for most library card sign-ups in a single day.
On Tuesday, September 23, BiblioTech invites the public to visit bibliotech.org between 8 a.m. on September 23 and 8 a.m. September 24 to register for a free library card. BiblioTech’s mascot, Techie will be be present at the Bexar County Historic Courthouse to recruit people to sign up. And whether you sign up in person or online, every new card will be counted towards the total. The record-breaking goal is to have more than 3,000 people sign up.
Registration is free for all county residents 16 years and older. The free library card will grant access to thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, language learning tools and many more resources.
According to BiblioTech’s website, the company is aiming to set the world record because “libraries change lives,” and people who already have a library card are encouraged to invite their family and friends to sign up for the event.
