‘Level the bevel’ | Texas Tech unveils new logo for 2026-27 season

The double-T logo is getting a fresh new look and returning to its roots at the same time.

LUBBOCK, Texas — There’s a new look coming for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech’s athletic department unveiled a new logo on Tuesday, featuring a new spin on the university’s Double T logo. Alas, the bevel has been leveled. The new logo is a white and red Double T, utilizing elements from Tech’s most recent and throwback branding.

One of the biggest changes is the colorway variations. With the beveled logo, the scarlet and black were the most visible colors. Now, red and white have taken center stage, but the simple design allows for all three of Tech’s brand colors to be utilized.

The modernized logo can already be seen on campus, too. According to the university, it’s featured on the outdoor turf practice field in the newly-opened Dustin R. Womble Football Center and on the court at United Supermarkets Arena.

Tech said the new logo will appear on all athletic uniforms starting in the 2026-27 academic year.

Tech’s beveled logo has been used since 2000, and after 25 years, some fans requested a rebrand. Social media accounts and even a fan-made website have demanded the university “level the bevel,” and now, their wish has been granted!

Dallas-based marketing agency, LDWW, surveyed donors, season ticket holders, athletes, coaches and regents, sparking the university’s efforts to modernize the logo. The project coincided with Tech’s new 10-year partnership with Adidas, which took the lead in the logo redesign and developed three custom fonts inspired by the university’s history, culture and alumnus Patrick Mahomes II.

In addition to the Double T, the athletics department unveiled a new rearing Masked Rider logo, tertiary marks pairing the Masked Rider with the Double T, and a revised Texas outline logo. Torch Creative, a branding firm with experience across professional and collegiate sports, also designed refreshed Raider Red caricatures, showing the mascot in sport-specific roles such as dribbling a basketball or carrying a football.

University officials noted the modernized Double T will be exclusive to athletics, while the traditional beveled Double T will remain as Tech’s official campus logo.
