SAN ANTONIO — A stretch of Interstate 10 in Bexar County was briefly shut down Sunday after overnight storms damaged utility equipment near the roadway.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, traffic in the 13000 block of I-10 westbound and eastbound was temporarily stopped while repairs were made.
CPS Energy says the power line itself did not come down. Instead, equipment supporting the line was struck by lightning during the overnight storms.
Crews were dispatched to make repairs, and law enforcement temporarily paused traffic for about 15 minutes so crews could work safely.
Officials say traffic is not expected to be stopped again.
Drivers are still being urged to slow down or move over while crews remain on scene securing the equipment and completing final repairs.
No injuries were reported.
