Visitors can experience more than two centuries of military history during the free Soldiers at the Alamo event Saturday.
SAN ANTONIO — The Alamo is inviting you to step back in time this weekend with Soldiers at the Alamo, a living history event highlighting more than 200 years of military presence at the historic site.
The free, family-friendly event takes place Saturday, January 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Alamo grounds. Visitors will meet living historians portraying soldiers from multiple eras, beginning with 18th-century Spanish Presidial troops, followed by Texian and Mexican soldiers from the 1836 Siege and Battle of the Alamo, and later U.S. Army troops who used the site as a supply depot before and after the Civil War.
Organizers say guests will learn about daily life, training, and weapons from each period, along with how those soldiers shaped the mission and fort that eventually helped define San Antonio’s identity as Military City USA. The event will also feature rifle drills and firing demonstrations throughout the day.
The Alamo is located at 300 Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio. Admission is free and open to the public.
