SAN ANTONIO — As hundreds of families try to recover after the deadly flood waters hit Central Texas on the Fourth of July, local school districts are coming together to offer a helping hand.

KENS 5 has compiled a list of area school districts collecting donations for the hundreds of survivors and family members who were impacted by the disaster.
Edgewood ISD
Edgewood ISD posted on Facebook a few days after the Fourth of July disaster asking the public to help the Hill Country.
Officials with Edgewood ISD are collecting essential supplies to take to families in the Kerrville area. The community can drop off their donations between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 at the EISD Police Department, located at 5358 W Commerce Street.
Police will be delivering these items to the families on Friday, July 11.
Requested donation items:
- Hygiene products for men, women and children
- Baby essentials (diapers, clothing, bottles, etc.)
- Socks, underwear, shirts, pants
- Water/electrolyte drinks
- Ready-to-eat food and snacks
- Pillow, blankets, sleeping bags
- Coping items (earplugs, coloring books, cards, toys, games)
- Tote bags, phone chargers, batteries, Ziplock bags, flash lights
- Reading glasses
- Over-the-counter medicines
- Cleaning supplies, trash bags, towels
- Sunblock, bug spray, ball caps
Divide ISD
Divide ISD has posted an Amazon wish list for items needed. Officials said the items on the list will be distributed based on specific needs.
The items will be delivered to the Divide School and will be dispersed from there.

And monetary donations can still be made to The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
Southwest ISD
Southwest ISD’s FFA program is collecting HEB, Walmart, Lowe’s, and Home Depot gift cards for impacted families. The district said these gift cards provide immediate flexibility for families to purchase essential items like food, clothing, and other necessities as they begin to rebuild their lives. Officials ask that the amount be labeled in marker.
“Whether it’s $10 or $100, your donation makes a real difference. Stand with us to support families rebuilding after disaster,” officials said in a Facebook post.
