Local YouTuber responds to Trump shooter killed while wearing t-shirt brand of his gun channel

“I would love to keep people like that from buying, wearing, being associated with that article of clothing,” said Matt Carriker.

SAN ANTONIO — In the hours after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, a local man noticed the gunman was wearing one of his t-shirts he sells through his popular YouTube channel.

“Obviously, we were kind of thrust into this conversation,” said Dr. Matt Carriker.

Hours after the attempted assassination a photo emerged of the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, after he was gunned down by Secret Service.

The photo caught the eye of local YouTube creator, merchandiser and veterinarian, Dr. Matt Carriker.

“The shooter who tried to assassinate Trump was wearing merch from my channel, wearing a Demolition Ranch t-shirt,” said Carriker.

Dr. Carriker responded to the incident on his YouTube channel Demolition Ranch, which advertises itself as “not your average gun channel,” and has nearly 12 million subscribers.

“When you’re watching a CNN article and it says three names: Trump, the shooter and mine. That was not on my 2024 bingo card,” said Dr. Carriker.

In the video Dr. Carriker gave his condolences to the Crooks family and the injured, but said they don’t vet who buys his t-shirts.

“I wish I could. I would love to keep people like that from buying, wearing, being associated with that article of clothing,” said Dr. Carriker.

Dr. Carriker also said no matter what side you are on politically, nobody wants violence.

”This channel is never meant to incite violence or hate, it never has, it isn’t and it never will be,” said Dr. Carriker.
