NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The New Braunfels Police Department issued a community alert saying there was an active scene at a local middle school on Friday morning. The “all clear” was given at about noon after no threat was found.
There was a heavy law enforcement presence on campus at Canyon Middle School around 10 a.m. due to a report of a threat.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office along with NBPD, NBFD and other surrounding agencies were on scene for the rest of Friday morning to monitor the incident.
A lockdown was initiated at the school around 9 a.m. and remained in place until about noon, according to Comal ISD officials. Students and staff remained inside their classrooms with doors locked to follow lockdown procedures.
Investigators say there are no reports of gunshots and no reports of any injuries.
The reunification of parents and guardians will take place at the entrance of Canyon Middle School. Students are being provided with boxed lunches.
In order to pick up a student, parents and guardians MUST have a photo ID and be listed in Skyward as eligible to pick up the student. You will only be able to pick up your student.
After arriving on campus, follow directions from law enforcement and school administrators for an orderly reunification.
Students who are unable to be picked up will resume the school day on a regular schedule.
