Lockdown lifted on NISD campuses after student is detained by district policy

A district spokesperson said that no weapon was reported, despite rumors to the contrary. A 10th grader now faces charges for evading authorities.

SAN ANTONIO — Brief afternoon lockdowns impacting two Northside ISD campuses were lifted Friday after a 10th grader was arrested by district police.

The Clark High School student now faces a charge of evading arrest or detention charge after the Friday commotion. That high school was on lockdown, as well as nearby Locke Hill Elementary School; both are off De  Zavala Road near Vance Jackson.

Barry Perez, a spokesperson with NISD, said police were looking for a “suspicious individual” near the Clark campus who fled from police after a report was made that someone in the parking lot may have had a weapon. That individual, later identified as a Clark High School student, fled when police approached but was later apprehended.

Perez said was no weapon found “despite rumors.”

The lockdowns were lifted by 12:49 p.m.

Video shared with KENS 5 and taken from inside the high school cafeteria shows an individual running toward the campus, with police officers close behind. Some students are then seen rushing out of the school; according to Perez, some decided to leave since it was lunch hour while others went across the street for safety. They were joined by a school administrator and counselor.
