The teams renewed their rivalry in 2024 after a 13-year hiatus.
AUSTIN, Texas — The renewed rivalry between Texas and Texas A&M is returning to Black Friday.
This season, the Longhorns and Aggies will face off in the Lone Star Showdown on Nov. 28 – the day after Thanksgiving – in what will be the first time the two squads have met in Austin since 2010.
This will be the first time the two rivals square off on Black Friday since 2007. The two squads then played on Thanksgiving from 2008 until 2011, the last matchup before a 13-year hiatus in the series after Texas A&M joined the SEC.
The game has traditionally been held during the Thanksgiving holiday, with 84 of the rivalry’s 119 games being played on either Thanksgiving or Black Friday.
After Texas joined the SEC in 2024, the rivalry was renewed, with Texas winning last season’s matchup in College Station 17-7. The win punched Texas a ticket to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, which they ultimately lost to Georgia in overtime.
The 2025 Lone Star Showdown will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Black Friday.
