Lottery ticket purchased at a Texas Stripes store wins historic prize

Another trust created to play lottery games aimed at winning millions, has got what the Texas Lottery is calling a historic Mega Millions win. The thing is, the trust isn’t even based in Texas. Blue Yucca Trust, based out of Rapid City, South Dakota, has claimed the $360 million jackpot Wednesday from a Mega Millions ticket, according to a news release.

The trust chose the cash value option and was paid  $157.4 million before taxes, the largest prize ever paid out to a single Texas Lottery player, the news release says. The Quick Pick Mega Millions ticket got all five numbers plus the Mega Ball to win the jackpot. The ticket was purchased at a Stripes corner store at 5665 Sherwood Way, San Angelo, Texas 76904. That store will receive a $1 million bonus.

The second highest Mega Millions jackpot winner was also a company that was created to play and win the Texas Lottery. In 2007, Dallas-based Alchemy Holdings Inc. won $330 million off a ticket bought at a store in Humble, Texas. Creating trusts and companies is not uncommon or illegal, and some of the company names are rather silly
