‘Love him dearly’: College student from New Braunfels has been missing for two months, $50K reward offered for information

April 4 marks two months since Caleb Harris disappeared from his Corpus Christi apartment. The Harris family is desperate for Caleb’s safe return.

SAN ANTONIO — Saturday marks two months since a college student from New Braunfels vanished on a foggy March morning.

Caleb Harris was last seen at his off-campus apartment complex in Corpus Christi. His father, Randall Harris, says it’s hard not knowing where his only son is.

“He is an outstanding human being,” said Randall. “He is an incredible guitar player and cook. Of course, he loves being out there fishing. We love him dearly and we are looking forward to having him home and loving on him, no matter what the circumstances are.”

The 21-year-old Texas A&M-Corpus Christi student was captured on surveillance video walking a dog with his roommate and a friend at about 1 a.m. on March 4. According to the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD), Caleb then ordered Uber Eats for lunch the next day and took the dog out for another walk. He sent his sister a Snapchat video of the dog at 2:44 a.m., investigators say.

At 3:03 a.m., Caleb reportedly sent another Snapchat picture to a friend in San Antonio. The photo showed a small bridge a few hundred feet from the apartment complex.

At 3:12 a.m., police say Caleb’s phone shared his last location with a nearby cellphone tower before it was either turned off or died.

We are now learning of a possible sighting after Caleb’s phone went dark.

“The witness is a very credible person and believes what he saw,” Randall said.

According to Randall, the eyewitness believes he saw Caleb walking barefoot with the dog at about 3:40 a.m. The potential sighting was near a bridge about a mile from the apartment complex.

“We reached out to the homeless community and went and met with a lot of people on Sunday where they eat lunch,” said Randall. “Then on Wednesday, we went to a lot of churches and areas where the homeless community populates. Really, they are boots on the ground too.”

Randall is encouraged by the dozens of tips that continue to pour in, but says the investigation is still missing the clue that will point police in the right direction.

“We looked in Florida this weekend after a tip came in,” he said. “It didn’t pan out, but we are thankful for the tip. Even I saw somebody yesterday and slowed down and looked because I was like, ‘Wait a minute, that looks a lot like him.’ We don’t have a true North yet. It’s still a [missing persons case]. We feel strongly that he was probably taken or kidnapped or maybe even lured into something.”

The CCPD has ruled out Caleb’s friends, family members and roommates as suspects in Caleb’s disappearance. Their investigation is now focused on digital data. Police say they have conducted 16 electronic search warrants, issued 14 subpoenas for electronic data, and combed through over 600 GBs of information.

Leaning on his faith and family, Randall prays he will see Caleb soon.

“We have a $50,000 reward; that’s a lot of money,” he said. “Hopefully if someone truly sees him or knows where he is at, they will take advantage of that reward.”
