Lytle PD thwarts ‘Beef Tongue Bandit’ at H-E-B. How much did she allegedly try to steal?

A woman allegedly attempted to steal $308 of goods, including beef tongue, from an H-E-B in Lytle and was arrested by police.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman allegedly tried to make off with $150 worth of beef tongue product at an H-E-B in Lytle when she ran into a police officer at the store, authorities said. 

According to Lytle Police Chief Richey Maxey, the unidentified woman resisted when stopped by the officer in the small community located about 24 miles southwest of downtown San Antonio. 

“Her husband showed up and escalated the situation,” Maxey said. “We were able to calm him down and get her under arrest.” 

The woman allegedly tried to leave with $308 of products in all, including the meat. Instead, as a result of the arrest, she was booked into the Atascosa County jail. Her exact charges are unknown.
