Major accident causing traffic delay up to 2 hours along I-35 southbound near Thousand Oaks

A major accident along I-35 on the northeast side is causing a significant backup of traffic this morning. Drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route.

SAN ANTONIO — A crash on the northeast side is causing stopped traffic along at I-35 South near Thousand Oaks during the Thursday morning commute, according to TxDOT San Antonio.

The incident was reported at around 8:30 a.m. TxDOT says the right southbound lane is closed.

Traffic is backed up to FM 482/FM 2252/Exit 177 and Olympia Parkway/Exit 173. TxDOT reports stopped traffic in the area and says drivers should expect delays of up to two hours.

Drivers are encouraged to use Lookout Road, Wurzbach Parkway or Nacogdoches Road as alternate routes.
