Man accused of shooting 17-year-old in face during west-side road rage incident, SAPD says

San Antonio police arrested Arnold Pena for shooting a 17-year-old in a road rage incident on Highway 90.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested in connection to a road rage shooting on the west side of San Antonio earlier this week, according to an arrest affidavit.

33-year-old Arnold Pena was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony, for a reported shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning.

San Antonio police responded to a reported road rage incident around 6:30 a.m. at Highway 90 near the Hunt Lane exit.

Police said a 17-year-old boy was shot in the face by a suspect, identified as Pena, while they were both driving. The victim’s vehicle was also struck by bullets.

Authorities said the teen had taken photos and videos of Pena’s license plate number prior to being shot and sent them to his girlfriend. Police were given this evidence.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

According to SAPD, the photos taken by the teen showed Pena driving the vehicle just before the shooting. The video also showed Pena raising a silver handgun and a muzzle flash.

The license plate number shown in the photos proves the suspect vehicle was registered to another person but police later determined the vehicle belonged to Pena’s wife, documents say.

This is a developing story and further details will be added as they are received. Check back to this article for updates.
