Man accused of shooting another man on south side after argument over gun boils over, SAPD says

The victim reportedly yelled at the suspect, “You are going to have to shoot me if you want me to stop talking.”

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested in connection to a south-side shooting in late June, according to an arrest affidavit from San Antonio police.

Felix Beltran, 23, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to an arrest affidavit, on June 29 a 35-year-old man and two witnesses were sitting outside a residence on the 1100 block of Delaware Street in the early morning hours.

While they were outside, Beltran and another man came out of a nearby residence. Beltran then walked to sit on the trunk of a white sedan, parked near the 35-year-old man, Beltran then showed off the gun that was in his possession, documents say.

Police say an argument between the man and Beltran broke out over the gun and at some point Beltran got up and walked down the street.

According to the arrest affidavit, the man noticed that Beltran was still in the area and decided to walk towards him when another argument ensued. Witnesses tried to pull the man back but he reportedly yelled to Beltran, “You are going to have to shoot me if you want me to stop talking.”

Beltran then shot toward the victim at least once, hitting the man in the abdomen. Beltran and the man accompanying him fled the location, documents say.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but is expected to recover.

Witnesses were able to identify Beltran as the shooter.
