Man arrested after allegedly robbing victim at gunpoint on Vance Jackson, SAPD says

San Antonio police say a 36-year-old man was detained after allegedly pointing a handgun at a victim and stealing a cellphone during a robbery on Vance Jackson Road.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been detained after an alleged daytime robbery at gunpoint on the city’s northwest side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers were dispatched around 12:05 p.m. Saturday to the 4000 block of Vance Jackson Road for a robbery in progress.

Police say a 27-year-old man told officers he had been involved in a verbal argument over the phone with a woman. The dispute was reportedly over a cellphone that he had and the woman wanted.

According to investigators, shortly after the argument, someone knocked on the man’s door. When he opened it, he was confronted by a 36-year-old man who allegedly pointed a handgun at him and demanded the phone.

Police say the victim handed over the cellphone, and the suspect fled the scene. The man was not injured during the incident.

Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby after the victim provided a direction of travel. He was detained for further investigation.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation, and the information is subject to change as detectives continue reviewing the circumstances.
