SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested after an argument at a west-side bus stop led to a fatal shooting.
On Feb. 27., officials responded to the 2800 block of West Commerce Street after receiving reports of a shooting.
Records show an argument took place between two men at the bus stop and only escalated once they got onto the VIA bus. That argument continued once they reached a west-side stop and led to the suspect pulling out a firearm and shooting the victim.
An arrest affidavit states Armando Aaron Rodriguez Jr. was brought in for questioning as the main suspect in the case.
Rodriguez allegedly proceeded to admit to investigators that he shot the victim, but claimed it was in self defense after the victim lunged at him first. The affidavit goes on to show Rodriguez stated the victim did not have anything in his hands at the time of the incident, corroborating what witnesses said on scene.
At the time of the statement, Rodriguez was released pending further investigation.
Footage was obtained from the VIA bus both Rodriguez and the victim were on and shows a different story than what was initially shared with investigators.
The video allegedly never showed the victim lunging towards Rodriguez nor making any threats as the video in fact showed the victim running away after Rodriguez pulled out his weapon and began to open fire.
Rodriguez was arrested and faces a charge of murder.
