Man arrested after committing theft spree down neighborhood street on stolen bike, BCSO says

Several residents that live on the same street were victims of a man who allegedly stole several items from their homes before jumping fences to avoid authorities.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A man was arrested Monday afternoon after a series of burglaries and thefts reported in a Northwest Bexar County neighborhood, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 4 p.m. Feb. 2, 2026, to a reported burglary in the 14000 block of Guadalupe Pass. Witnesses told deputies they saw a man jumping fences in the area and leaving behind a tote bag at one location. A witness also reported seeing the man, later identified as Emiliano De La Garza, jump a fence while carrying an item he did not previously have, indicating it had allegedly been taken from a nearby residence.

Deputies checked several homes in the area and confirmed a burglary at a residence in the 14000 block of Guadalupe Pass. Homeowners reported that items inside the home had been moved and that a tablet had been stolen. Jewelry was also reported missing. De La Garza was later found to be in possession of the stolen tablet.

A deputy made contact with De La Garza and reported that he was carrying a bag containing stolen items. When advised he was being detained, De La Garza pulled away, jumped a fence and fled on foot, authorities said.

Additional deputies responded and assisted in the search and De La Garza was eventually apprehended at the intersection of Galm Road and Nueces Path.

In a related incident, another homeowner later recovered a family member’s bicycle approximately three streets away, lying on a sidewalk. The homeowner reported the bicycle had been taken from outside their garage, where it had been leaning against the building. Video surveillance showed De La Garza approaching the bicycle, placing a helmet on his head and taking it, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities also said a stolen package belonging to another resident on the street was found inside De La Garza’s bag.

De La Garza was charged with burglary of a habitation, evading arrest or detention on foot, theft of mail and theft of property.

He is being held in the Bexar County Jail with total bond set at $60,000.
