KENEDY, Texas — A man is in custody after deputies say he assaulted an adult and a child and fired a gun at them during a domestic disturbance early Thursday morning in Kenedy.
The Karnes County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened in the 600 block of Industrial Boulevard. Investigators said the suspect was intoxicated when he assaulted both victims and fired two shots toward them as they hid in a bedroom.
The victims were able to escape after the suspect fell asleep and were later placed in a safe location with help from state and local victim advocacy agencies.
Deputies later returned to the home with arrest and search warrants and took the suspect into custody after negotiating him out of the house.
The suspect was identified as Guillermo “Willie” Trevino Jr. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a child.
Sheriff’s officials say domestic violence will not be tolerated and encourage anyone experiencing abuse to contact law enforcement.
