Man arrested after hit-and-run injures 5-year-old girl at San Antonio food truck park

Zackry Ramirez is also charged in a separate incident where police said he rammed into a police vehicle while trying to evade officers.

SAN ANTONIO — A man accused of injuring a 5-year-old girl in a hit-and-run accident is now behind bars, according to records.

According to an arrest warrant, 22-year-old Zakry Ramirez drove into a parking lot at a food truck park off the 5600 block of Walzem Road in September of last year.

Once he pulled into the parking lot, police said Ramirez hit the child who was riding on a small electric motorcross bike.

The impact knocked the child off the bike and propelled her forward around 30 feet, according to arrest warrants.

The child was rushed to the hospital, and police said Ramirez left the scene and did not stop to render aid.

Witnesses on scene were able to take photos of Ramirez’s license plate.

Detectives quickly identified Ramirez and were able to gather evidence that placed him at the scene of the crime, according to police documents.

Fast forward to last Sunday when police said detectives were conducting surveillance on Ramirez and tried to arrest him off the 3300 block of Oakwell Court.

According to the arrest warrant, when officers tried to stop Ramirez, he “rapidly accelerated out of the parking spot,” and rammed into the detective’s police vehicle, and then took off.

But Ramirez didn’t get away for long, two days later Ramirez was arrested and hauled off to jail.

He’s facing multiple charges including collision involving injury and evading arrest.
