Man arrested after secretly recording people in San Antonio Zoo bathrooms, authorities say

Footage obtained from 22-year-old Alex Trey Casas’ phone appeared to show two separate instances where victims were being recorded without their consent.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested after he allegedly recorded people in the bathrooms at San Antonio Zoo throughout the month of January.

According to an arrest affidavit, 22-year-old Alex Trey Casas’ phone was collected by the San Antonio Police Department in March. The phone was then put into forensic evidence.

On the phone, several videos were found that appear to be secret recordings taken of people inside various bathrooms.

In one of the recordings from Jan. 5, it appears Casas is filming one of the victims, a zoo employee, while he was standing by the sink. The angle appears to be from a nearby bathroom stall.

Two other recordings from Jan. 27 showed another victim, a cleaning service employee, also being recorded. This victim was using the restroom during the recording.

Investigators said both victims appeared like they weren’t aware they were being recorded. When shown the footage, both victims agreed they were the ones being recorded and the location was a San Antonio Zoo bathroom.

Casas was arrested and charged with invasive visual recording of a bathroom, a state felony.
