Man arrested, charged with manslaughter in connection to 5-car fatal pileup in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man has been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal five-car pileup, according to Fort Worth police.

The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) confirmed Brian Hoy was charged with two counts of manslaughter and another count of aggravated assault causing bodily injury. Hoy’s charges stem from a fatal crash that happened in the early morning hours of April 5, where at least three people were killed in a five-vehicle pileup on Risinger Road.

One of the three people killed as 19-year-old Taunya Freeman. WFAA spoke with Freeman’s family after the crash, who said they recognized the teenager’s silver car, which was crushed between a pickup truck and another vehicle.

The family said the 19-year-old was driving with two friends in the car. One of her friends was also killed, and the other was hospitalized. The three young women were coworkers, the family said.

Hoy was booked into Tarrant County Jail on April 12, jail records showed. His bond was set at $60,000 total – $20,000 for each of his three counts.
