Man arrested for allegedly fatally shooting a relative during an argument Sunday

Police say that the suspect apparently believed that the victim stole something from him.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are investigating after a man was found fatally shot early Sunday morning.

SAPD were dispatched to the 1500 block of Upland Road around 4:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the location, they found a man with a gunshot wound in the breezeway of the apartment complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim, now identified as Marquis Green, 41, went outside to grab an item from his vehicle, when the suspect approached him. 

During the argument, police say they both started struggling over a gun, with the suspect eventually shooting Green. Police identified the suspect as Gregory Cunningham Jr, 34. He was taken into custody Sunday afternoon.

Police say that Cunningham apparently believed that Green stole something from him.

Cunningham is now facing a murder charge.

No other injuries were reported.
