Man arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot his child’s mother in a Walmart parking lot

According to an affidavit, he pointed a gun at her after she put their baby in the backseat of a car.

SAN ANTONIO — Police arrested a man who allegedly threatened to shoot his child’s mother in a Walmart parking lot, according to arrest paperwork.

An affidavit says he pointed a gun at her after she put their baby in the backseat of a car. He’s now behind bars nearly two years after the alleged crime.

According to that affidavit, the suspect’s mother witnessed this all. She was reportedly there when her son threated to kill his child’s mother.

Police have identified the man as 27-year-old David Diaz. Back in November of 2022, he allegedly confronted the victim in Walmart while she was buying diapers for their newborn.

Diaz demanded to see the child and when they walked out to parking lot the situation escalated. The affidavit says the suspect grabbed a gun from the woman’s purse in her car and pointed it right at her.

He threatened to shoot and then allegedly told his mother, let’s go before he would kill her.

Fearing for her life, the victim drove to the police station and reported what happened. Due to his violent tendencies, and knowledge of the victim’s home address, investigators believe he is a danger to her and the public and made the arrest.

Diaz is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to online court records, he is being held on a $100,000 dollar bond.

He is expected to make his first court appearance in June.
