Man arrested for ‘extremist’ threats to kill Black, Jewish people with homemade explosive devices, records state

Records show Henderson identified as a Nazi and white supremacist as he attended meetings with local Nazi groups. He also wanted to emulate Luigi Mangione’s actions.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of making “alarming and extremist” statements expressing his desire to kill Black and Jewish people, along with unnamed government officials with homemade explosive devices.

On July 12, BCSO says they arrested 39-year-old Nathan James Henderson after they received a “credible tip” in regards to threats of mass violence and possession of illegal explosive components.

An affidavit states, when Henderson’s cousin paid him visit on July 4, Henderson allegedly made “alarming and extremist” threats to kill Jewish and Black people, along with unnamed government officials with weapons and homemade explosive devices.

Henderson also allegedly voiced his admiration for Luigi Mangione and wished to emulate his actions.

Based on photos and information provided by Henderson’s cousin following his visit on July 4, a search warrant was executed on his home north of San Antonio.

The search warrant allegedly resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • Multiple firearms and ammunition
  • Chemicals and components commonly used to create improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
  • Notebooks containing extremist ideology and vague plans to disrupt public venues
  • A total of 24 grenades with corresponding striker mechanisms
  • A homemade igniter with remote detonation capability
  • Nearly 100 metal cylinders believed to be intended for manufacturing blasting caps

The SAPD Bomb Squad and Fire Marshal’s Office conducted follow-up analysis which reportedly confirmed several of the grenades were modified and in “various stages of construction,” leading authorities to believe Henderson was experimenting with explosive devices.

Henderson was arrested and faces charges of terrorism, hoax bombs, components of explosives and prohibited weapons.

“We want to thank our partners at the ATF, SAPD Bomb Squad, and the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office for their swift efforts in not only helping arrest this individual, but for preventing the potential harm this individual may have caused to our community,” said BCSO.
