Man arrested in connection to San Antonio AMBER Alert

Darryl Wesley Sargent Jr. was arrested and charged with injury to a child with intent to bodily harm.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested in connection to an AMBER Alert issued and discontinued Saturday in San Antonio.

The AMBER Alert had been issued for a missing 10-year-old boy was last seen in the 200 block of Ashland Drive at 7:30 p.m. Friday. That Amber Alert was discontinued shortly after.

According to an arrest affidavit, once the boy was found, he told police that the reason why he ran away was because he “got in trouble.” The boy told police that his legal guardian, identified as 35-year-old Darryl Wesley Sargent Jr., was going to hit him.

The boy said Sargent would use a belt and/or extension cord and hit his lower back/buttocks area.

The boy was then able to show multiple loop mark injuries on his lower back. He said it happened in November of 2025.

Sargent was then contacted, who told police he’s had legal custody of the child since May of 2025. He said that the boy would get in trouble at school and he would discipline him by striking him with a belt. He also said he would put the boy in “jail,” which was a small room with no furniture and only a bean bag for the victim to sleep on.

Officials believed due to Sargent’s “violent tendencies,” they thought he was a danger to the child.

Sargent was then arrested and charged with injury to a child with intent to bodily harm.

According to jail records, Sargent has been released on his $10,000 bond.
