Man charged after SWAT situation at San Marcos apartment complex

SAN MARCOS, Texas — A man is in custody after a SWAT operation early Thursday morning in San Marcos.

According to the San Marcos Police Department, law enforcement received a report of a person being held hostage at an apartment complex at the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs Drive.

The SWAT team arrived with crisis negotiators sometime around 2 a.m. as police said they were able to save the victim. The situation forced law enforcement to evacuate some apartment units, which has 

San Marcos officials later identified the man as 35-year-old Hector Cuestas. He remains in Hays County Jail on charges of assault causing bodily injury, resisting arrest and interfering with public duties.

Meanwhile, officials have not identified the victim.
