Man charged with aggravated assault with deadly weapon following ‘love triangle’ shooting, police say

The suspect was eventually found and identified as Joseph Angel Valle, 32.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested following a family disturbance that escalated into a shooting late Thursday night, according to police.

It happened in the 600 block of Shadwell Drive on the northwest side of town around 10:24 p.m.

Police responded to a call for a shooting in progress and found a man shot in his lower body. The 35-year-old victim was taken to University Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police say this appeared to be a love triangle between the suspect and his ex-girlfriend and new partner that escalated into a shooting after the three of them met up to discuss some issues.

An argument developed between the two men and the suspect shot the victim and then fled on foot. Officers searched the area but couldn’t find him.

The suspect was eventually found and identified as Joseph Angel Valle, 32.

He was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, which is a felony.

This is a developing story.
