SAN ANTONIO — A 46-year-old man is facing an aggravated sexual assault charge after police say he attacked a 71-year-old woman inside her north side apartment.
According to court records, Alton James Partridge was arrested Thursday, the same day the assault is alleged to have happened. He remains in the Bexar County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
San Antonio police say the woman told officers she was sleeping when a man entered her apartment, believed to have climbed in through a window while all doors were locked. When she woke up, police say the suspect attacked her and she was unable to get away.
Investigators say the suspect left the apartment several hours later. Police say the woman later contacted her son, who previously lived at the apartment and recognized the description of the suspect as someone he knew. Using details provided by the victim, including distinctive tattoos, police were able to identify Partridge as a suspect.
According to an affidavit from the San Antonio Police Department Special Victims Unit, the victim later identified Partridge in a photo lineup.
Police say Partridge is an acquaintance of the victim’s son.
The case remains under investigation. If convicted, aggravated sexual assault carries a lengthy prison sentence under Texas law.
If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault, help is available through local law enforcement and victim advocacy organizations.
