Man claims self-defense in shooting of wife in northeast Bexar County, BCSO says

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is in the hospital, and a man has been detained following a shooting in northeast Bexar County early Tuesday morning, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. at the Woodlake Villas Apartments in the 6000 block of Woodlake Parkway, not far from North Foster Road and Old Seguin Road.

According to BCSO, deputies arrived to find a woman unconscious with a gunshot wound. The woman was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

BCSO said they detained a man at a gas station, not far from the apartment complex. A preliminary report of the shooting states the man had called 911, stating he shot his wife in self-defense. A child was also present inside the home at the time, but was not hurt in the incident.

Neither the man nor the victim have been identified by authorities. It’s also not immediately clear what sparked the shooting.
