Man critically injured after being shot in head on west side, SAPD says

A young man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head early Tuesday morning on San Antonio’s west side.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a shooting that left a young man critically injured early Tuesday morning on the city’s west side.

According to a sergeant with the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 1:25 a.m. to the 3000 block of West Salinas Street near South Zarzamora.

Police say a man believed to be between 18 and 26 years old was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators say there is no suspect information at this time, and it is unclear what led up to the shooting.

Detectives are continuing to investigate. SAPD, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all responded to the scene.
