Man critically injured in early morning stabbing on San Antonio’s northeast side

A 40-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest during an early morning altercation at a home on the northeast side.

SAN ANTONIO — SAN ANTONIO — A 40-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed during an early morning incident on the city’s Northeast Side.

San Antonio police were called to the 600 block of Sumner Drive near Austin Highway around 3:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, after reports of a cutting.

According to a detective at the scene, the man suffered a stab wound to the chest and was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

Investigators said the stabbing happened during an altercation inside a home. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police say they have a lead on a possible suspect, but no arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
