Man critically injured in shooting on Culebra Road; suspect arrested, police say

A man was critically injured in a shooting on Culebra Road Saturday evening, and police arrested a suspect nearby.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting on the city’s west side Saturday evening, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called to the 2400 block of Culebra Road near Bandera Road around 5:38 p.m. for a reported shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses at the scene identified a suspect, and officers were able to locate and detain a 28-year-old man nearby.

Police said the suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not said what led up to the shooting.
