Man dead after crash east of downtown SA, police say

The accident caused traffic to be backed up while officials worked to investigate and clear the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — A 32-year-old driver died after authorities say they crashed their vehicle east of downtown San Antonio on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 10 at Roland Avenue. Officials with the San Antonio Police Department say the man was taken to a hospital after he lost control of his vehicle while passing another car, hit a light pole and crashed.

A truck driver saw the accident and stopped, but he was not involved in the crash.

The victim died after being taken to a hospital.
