Man dead, another person injured after east-side hangout erupts in gunfire, SAPD says

Gunfire during a hangout on San Antonio’s east side leaves one man dead and a woman injured.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after a hangout between three people erupted in gunfire on the east side Sunday night, according to San Antonio authorities.

SAPD was called to a shooting around 11:40 p.m. near Jenull Avenue and Monson Street.

Officers and EMS found a 27-year-old man dead with multiple gunshots throughout his body. They also found a 32-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her hand. She was transported to University Hospital and is stable.

Police say the man and woman were hanging out in a lot with the male suspect.

That’s when an argument broke out about a transaction. After the suspect opened fire he left the scene. It’s unclear if he left on foot or in a car.

It was back in June when officers responded to another shooting in this same area. However, police have not connected the two shootings.

Regarding the shooting Sunday night – police say the male suspect is someone they’ve dealt with before, but no descriptions have been given.
