Man dies after being shot in head during car club meet-up on city’s West Side, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot and killed during a car club meet-up on the city’s West Side late Sunday night, according to San Antonio police.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 700 block of West Loop 1604 North, near Potranco Road.

According to police, officers initially broke up the car club meet-up in a parking lot near Loop 410 and Marbach Road. That’s when, police say, the cars relocated to a second parking lot.

Police said a man walked up to one of the cars, knocked on a back window and fired several gunshots. A passenger in the car was shot in the head. The driver of the vehicle sped off to an emergency clinic, but the victim was later pronounced deceased by emergency staff, police said.

The San Antonio Police Department and EMS both responded to the call.

A motive for the shooting is not currently known. The name and age of the person killed have not been released.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
