
Police said a man was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.
SAN ANTONIO — A man who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a shooting on the city’s northwest side Thursday afternoon has died, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Police said officers were called to the area of Wine Cup Drive and Alexander Hamilton Drive around 12:53 p.m. for a report of a shooting-in-progress. A caller told dispatchers they saw a man lying on the ground and heard a single gunshot.
When officers arrived, they found a man believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to officials, EMS located a pulse and the victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
According to a detective on scene, the man has died at the hospital.
Officers are currently canvassing the neighborhood, searching for surveillance video and witnesses who may have information.
Police say a male suspect was seen running fleeing the scene. No suspect description has been released and investigators say the case remains ongoing.
