Man dies after crashing car into neighbor’s home, Houston police say

The investigation is ongoing, and police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine what may have caused the driver’s behavior.

HOUSTON — Police are investigating a deadly crash after a car drove into a home in northwest Houston early Sunday morning.

This happened around 12:30 a.m. on Hollister Road near Emnora Lane.

Houston police said a man driving a BMW lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the side of a house.

Police responded to the scene and attempted to provide medical treatment to the driver, including CPR. Police said, despite their efforts, the man, believed to be around 59 years old, was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Following the crash, the car caught fire. However, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, and no one inside the home was injured.

Police said the driver had been acting erratically before the crash. Neighbors had called the police earlier, reporting that the man, who lived nearby, had been knocking on doors claiming he had people’s keys. His unusual behavior prompted a call about a suspicious person, but it was only after the crash that neighbors realized it was their neighbor.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine what may have caused the driver’s behavior.
