Man faces multiple charges after high-speed chase results in gun recovery, BCSO says

A high-speed chase in Bexar County ended with the arrest of Anthony Lee Villarreal, accused of firearm possession and evading arrest, according to authorities.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested after a high-speed chase ended with the recovery of a handgun, Bexar County authorities said.

According to BCSO, deputies attempted to stop a red Dodge Challenger for reckless driving near the 7500 block of Marbach Road on Tuesday, March 10. The driver, later identified as 37-year-old Anthony Lee Villarreal refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit that eventually ended on Pleasure Park Road.

Authorities said when the vehicle stopped, Villarreal bailed out and attempted to flee on foot when deputies saw Villarreal pull a handgun from his waistband and discard it. Villarreal was quickly caught and taken into custody without further incident.

According to BCSO, deputies recovered the weapon, a loaded Bond Arms .357 caliber revolver. Investigators also learned Villarreal had an active warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. He later told investigators that he fled because of the outstanding warrant.

Villarreal was booked into the Bexar County jail for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, along with additional charges of evading arrest with a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and evading arrest on foot. His total bond was set at $60,000.
