Man finds AR-10 gun near elementary school in San Antonio on Christmas Day, SAPD says

Police officials said there was no evidence of theft, and it’s unclear to what extent authorities are still investigating.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has opened an investigation into a gun that was found near a southwest-side elementary school.

Around 1 p.m. on Dec. 25, SAPD responded to the 3139 block of Fidelia Drive after a man claimed that he had found an “AR-15” gun on a trail near Spicewood Park Elementary.

Upon arrival, officers were able to secure the weapon and confirm it was an AR-10.

SAPD said after officers checked if the gun was stolen, negative results came back.

No further action is being taken at this time, according to the police report.
