Police say a man was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound during a crowded event on the northwest side of town.
SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after an apparent self-inflicted shooting near a northwest-side school during a weekend event.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 10:29 a.m. Saturday to the 11700 block of Northwest Military Drive, near Cornerstone Christian Schools, for a reported shooting in progress.
When officers arrived, they found hundreds of people in the area attending an athletic event. While searching the scene, officers located a 49-year-old man inside a vehicle with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say it is unclear what led up to the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
