SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio authorities continue to investigate the death of 21-year-old Zion Cook, whose body was pulled from the San Antonio River downtown on Monday.
The Bexar County medical examiner identified Cook on Wednesday, but his cause and manner of death are still pending.
Authorities said a passerby noticed the body in the river, in the area of Villita Street, and called police just after noon. Homicide investigators responded to the scene, but few details have been provided after the fact.
Cook’s body showed no obvious signs of trauma, authorities said, but investigators are still working to determine how long he was in the river and what may have caused his death.
The San Antonio Police Department is leading the investigation.
